Johanna St. Church Homes

In 2013, we were approached by some fine folks that had acquired two adjacent lots near Bouldin Creek.  Aside from the gorgeous land with stunning old live oaks, the property was unique and special in that it was home to a 70 year old baptist church and a small 600SF home that was used for the church pastor.  The church used the proceeds of the sale to relocate its parrish.  The land was underutilized and the existing architecture was nothing special.  Many owners/investors would have looked to knocking down the old buildings and building new to maximize profits.  Fortunately, these Owners shared our commitment to honoring the history of the property, the natural land, and the neighborhood.  We renovated and added on to the small home, to create a two-story 2/2.  We salvaged original materials for the wood floors, stairs, and beadboard ceiling.  We then renovated the church into a 1/1 with rear alley facing garage.  We preserved the large worship hall and alter as a great room.  The original worship hall had flat ceilings.  We designed and constructed a new vaulted ceiling, with exposed trusses built from recliamed timbers we sourced from a central texas period strucure.
